Composite Resin Fillings

Composites are some of the strongest materials in use today. Composite is a tooth-colored mixture of specialized polymer resins filled with microscopic ceramic particles. Composites are used to fill cavities, and for cosmetic improvements of the smile by changing the color of the teeth or reshaping disfigured teeth.

Strength and esthetics are the main advantages. Because composites bond to the tooth to support the remaining tooth structure, it helps to prevent breakage and insulate the tooth from excessive temperature changes. In addition, we can blend shades to create a color identical to that of the actual tooth. Cosmetic dentistry at its finest!

Porcelain Veneers Before and After - John R. Carson, D.D.S., P.C. | Cosmetic, Preventive, Restorative Dentist in Tucson

Porcelain Veneers

Ever wanted a movie star smile? Now you can have one! Porcelain veneers are a technique used to get the dramatic, gorgeous results you see on most of the television and magazine smile makeovers. Porcelain veneers are custom made, thin strips of porcelain adhered to the fronts of existing teeth to create a natural, beautiful smile. Veneers can be used to correct dental issues such as crooked or chipped teeth, gaps in teeth, and discolored teeth. It only takes a few appointments. Show the world the beauty and self-confidence that comes from a brilliant, natural-looking smile.

Teeth Whitening

Get ready to flash those pearly whites! Experience all the confidence and beauty that comes from a dazzling white smile. Teeth whitening is safe, effective and long lasting. Choose from two main methods to get excellent results: in-office professional whitening or a custom home teeth whitening kit.

Your custom home whitening kit involves a special tray that is customized to fit over your teeth. You also receive prescription whitening gel, which is inserted into the tray before you wear it. We will explain to you in detail the use of your custom trays. Expect the entire home whitening process to take between one and two weeks, leaving you with a radiant smile. Beware of the over counter teeth whitening methods that you see in the stores. They may not be as effective or right for you. Talk to Dr. Carson about your cosmetic dental options before using any teeth whitening products.

Dental Implants

Enjoy one of the most permanent forms of dentistry for replacing missing teeth, from a single missing tooth to multiple missing teeth.

Clear Orthodontics

Enjoy a perfectly aligned smile without ever wearing metal braces. We offer many systems that use clear, removable aligners to incrementally straighten your teeth. You never have to suffer through uncomfortable brackets or wires, and because you remove the aligners to eat and drink, there are no food restrictions or problems with brushing or flossing.

Our clear aligners are virtually unnoticeable, so it is likely no one will ever know you are undergoing treatment-all they will see is your dazzling smile!

CEREC Crown Machine - John R. Carson, D.D.S., P.C. | Cosmetic, Preventive, Restorative Dentist in Tucson

Porcelain Crowns

Over your lifetime, your smile endures a tremendous amount of stress. Teeth may show this wear in a variety of ways, including discoloration, chipping and cracking. Crowns restore your teeth and smile to look brilliant once again. Porcelain crowns can be made metal free or with porcelain fused to gold. Porcelain crowns can be shaded to match your teeth. After some tooth preparation, crowns are specifically fitted to restore functionality and enhance the appearance of your smile. Regain all the functionality in your smile again with porcelain crowns. Please let Dr. Carson know if you have any metal or gold allergies.

Your time is valuable. That’s why Dr. Carson has invested in the revolutionary CEREC™ system. CEREC™ is a technological system that allows for the fabrication of all porcelain crowns in a single visit. Porcelain fused to gold crowns require several visits, but with the CEREC™ system, a natural-looking restoration with many of the properties of natural teeth, can be custom created for you in less time assuring you of a more comfortable dental experience.

Porcelain Bridges

There are so many factors when it comes to your smile’s health. Sometimes gum disease, injury, decay or simply wear results in the loss of a tooth. One of the leading causes of missing teeth is not replacing missing teeth in the first place. When teeth are missing, your smile undergoes significant changes. Missing teeth cause you to chew differently, may cause mouth pain, and as your remaining teeth work to compensate for the loss, gaps and spaces form that only make the situation worse. Don’t let missing teeth ruin your quality of life and your entire smile! A porcelain bridge, custom designed by Dr. Carson, keeps your smile aligned and your bite functional. Bridges are anchored to existing teeth on either side of the missing tooth or teeth. Porcelain bridges are cemented in place by Dr. Carson and can be a long-term restorative solution to your damaged smile.

Dental Bonding

Bonding can repair chipped teeth, broken teeth, discoloration and in some cases, space between teeth. Tooth-colored resin is adhered directly to your damaged tooth. Bonding is generally considered less invasive than veneers or other cosmetic dentistry. You can maintain the natural structure of your tooth while the color and sculpting from the resin creates natural looking teeth.

Gum Contouring

When you smile, you want the world to see your gorgeous teeth, but not all of your gum tissue too! Many people with “gummy smiles” don’t know that there are treatments available to cosmetically enhance the look of your gums. Let Dr. Carson reshape the appearance of your gum tissue to make it more proportional to your overall smile. You can begin enjoying your new smile in just a few comfortable visits.

Dental Inlays/Onlays

Removing tooth decay effectively requires the removal of a portion of your tooth. To ensure your smile is beautiful and fully functional, Dr. Carson’s goal is to minimize the amount of natural tooth structure removed to restore the tooth back to health. Some ways of doing this include inlays and onlays. Dr Carson customizes a porcelain inlay or onlay to fill the space left behind when part of your tooth is removed. Traditionally, inlays and onlays were made out of metal, much like traditional filings. Now, porcelain inlays and onlays are virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth and provide you relief from chewing pain, cavity pain and tooth degeneration.

TMJ/TMD

More than 15 percent of adults in the U.S. suffer from chronic facial pain. TMD can cause severe discomfort and interfere with your daily activities and quality of life.
